Once two people and their families feel positive, a familiar sequence begins. Knowing the flow keeps everyone relaxed and respectful.
The first family meeting
Keep it light and welcoming. Offer tea, let the couple speak a little privately, and avoid turning it into an interview. The goal is comfort, not cross-examination.
Roka / tilak
A roka quietly marks that both families agree to proceed. It is intimate — usually close family, a few sweets, blessings and a small exchange of tokens.
Engagement
The engagement (sagai / mangni) is the public promise, often with rings and a celebration. Fix the date once both sides are sure, and let the couple keep talking as plans move forward.
