Weds.me Muslim Matrimony

Safety

Safety guidelines

Most members are sincere. These steps protect you from the few who are not.

Involve your family early

Let your wali or a trusted family member know who you are speaking to. Islam encourages family involvement, and it is also the best protection against deception.

Never send money

No genuine match will ask you for money, gifts, bank details or help with visas, customs fees or medical bills. Report anyone who does, immediately.

Keep personal details private at first

Do not share your home address, workplace, financial details or private photos. Use Weds.me messages until you are confident the person is genuine.

Meet in public, with family

When you meet, choose a public place and bring a mahram or family member. Tell someone where you are going.

Verify what you are told

Ask about education, work and family, and check that the answers are consistent. A video call with family present is a good step before meeting.

Signs to watch for

  • Pressure to move to another app or to keep things secret from family
  • Stories that change, or refusal to speak by phone or video
  • Requests for money or financial help for any reason
  • Rushing towards marriage without involving either family
